What to do when you send a job application to increase your chances of winning the job. When you end an application for a job it is advisable that you do more to win the job. Some job seekers follow old advice that asks job seekers to follow up on the job, of course following up on the job is not bad advice, it is actually better to follow however the best is to really do something that is meaningful and would contribute to you winning the job. Sending a series of mails as a way of following up on a job may infuriate the recruiter. We advise that you send one professionally crafted private message to the recruiter, see example below.
Dear Mr. Norris (if you know the name of the recruiter)
Dear Recruiter (if you don’t know the name of the recruiter)
It is best to go by the first paragraph (Dear Mr. Norris) hence we advise that you make some research to know the person who is recruiting for the job, sound a little bit familiar in addressing the recruiter.
I hope you are doing well.
I saw that you are recruiting for the position of Branch manager for your company, Aidi Chucks Ltd. I sent my application for the position a few minutes ago, with the application number 81294, or with an application title “Branch manager position Aidi Chucks ltd”.
(The reason is to enable the recruiter easily trace and pick out your application)
I am reaching out to you because, I have qualifications and experience best suited for the position you seek to fill, if you have a limited to conclude your recruitment and may not be able to go through the many applications, I have attached my resume to this massage for your consideration, I humbly ask that you consider my application because i have made a good representation on my CV that I attached to my massage.
Thanks, my utmost regards

Sample Letter to send to recruiters when desperately looking for a job
Dear Professor Leyster, I have approached very closely the graduation year of master’s study in Corporate Law at the college of Law, City university of New York, and I am writing to apply to participate in the annual Nelson Mandela Readers fellowship programme. I have self-funded my studies from the undergraduate days in the University of Benin up to my current studies at the City University of New York. In my current studies I have taken a part-time job as a commercial legal associate at Primallaw. I truly did not come from a privileged background and my parents have indeed been giving all that they could, but the costs of concluding my dissertation at the City University of New York that involves interpreting Nigeria legal aspect of Lekki free trade zone at.
My dissertation on the Nigeria Lekki free trade zone seeks to provide a new perspective on what the legal aspect of the commercial activities in the free trade zone would mean to traders and government, but it cannot be written from inside a library but that which would involve onsite research.
I have already contributed much to the College of Law, City University of New York; my contributions include Materials Project and running events for the African business community in New York. I aim to build a career in Commercial trade in Africa. I have four months of work experience at Primallaw. I want to bring my knowledge and my experience a bit closer to the rest of the world. That can only through an opportunity to participate in the Nelson Mandela Fellowship. The fellowship would allow me access to the leading experts in my career field and I would have an opportunity to practise my profession with more exposure and knowledge. I would like to further discuss my interest and my desire to participate in this fellowship programme.
Sincerely,
Maureen Mainerina
