You can advance on that your skill or skills today and become successful in  life. What skill do you have? That’s the very first question you will ask yourself in this context.

It could digital skill or it could be manual skill, called handiwork in my country. What is the best news here? The best news is that both the digital skills and manual skills (handiwork) pay really very well. So if you what you have acquired is a digital skill, I would say that’s really good,  if it’s a manual skill that is really great.

Second stage is to find out the problems that you can use that particular skill to solve.

You can find these free Courses on professional platforms such LinkedIn, and can also be found on twitter and even on Facebook. You can learn about free courses from family and friends.

Also, if it’s worth it, you can take paid courses to advance on your skill.

Work on improving your skill 10 hours everyday.

You have to constantly work on your skill in order to get better with it. Dedicate reasonable time to improving on your skill,  practice every day and spend time looking at what you did right and what need review, spend time also collecting feedback from family and friends and having open mind towards the feedback. This way you would be learning a lot about the things you haven’t known before, and you would be getting better than others who have the same skill.

Find a mentor who has improved and made a fortune with the same skill.

No man is an Island, don’t claim to know it all, you need a mentor to guild you to the right path. Mentors are very important when you want to develop in certain area. Mentors are people like who have went through what you are about to go through,  who have learnt a lot, going through what you are about to go through, who have know the good and the bad about the area and who definitely have known how to succeed in that area because they have succeeded in that area.

There may be so many people who have tried build a career in that specific area you are about to start building career in but failed and so many that succeed,  those that succeeded are Mentors, find one or more for yourself and learn from his or her experience.

Try solving a problem with your skill.

This is self explanatory,  there’s a saying that practice make perfect,  so keep practicing your skill by using it to solve problems. Starting with it as a hobby,  give free service as a way of learning until you become a professional. Start charging as necessary as time goes on.

Ask family and friends for honest opinions.

This is very important,  let your family and friends know your skill, share your journey with them, they will be your first clients, and they will be your first referrals. It’s very important to share your skill with your family and friends and ask them for review and an honest feedback.

Share your skill with your contacts and connections on the social media.

After your family and friends, your next closest people are your contacts and your connections on social media. You must get them to know your skill and how good you are it. Convince them to patronise you and refer you to their friends and relatives.

This is very important for expansion,  from selling your service to your family and friends maybe for free because at this time, you are still developing, to selling to your contacts on the social media, this time paid because you have made some progress.
